It was not always this way.
In the 1920’s Alemite was founded with the invention of the zerk fitting. A lube job on your care was referred to as getting your car “Alemited”.
Before the invention of the zerk fitting, maintenance personnel used to lubricate bearings and bushings by brushing grease on them by hand.
The zerk fitting changed that. It allowed for access to the bearing while keeping the bearing free from outside contamination.
Alemite expanded on their invention and developed a complete line of lubrication equipment to help lubricate equipment in all sorts of application. Grease guns, heavy duty grease guns, oil guns, oil pumps, hose reels , grease pumps and grease control handles are just some of the equipment Alemite developed and continues to manufacture today.
Alemite maintains a strong presence with the southeastern United States, with corporate headquarters in Ft. Mill, SC and manufacturing and warehousing in Johnson City, TN.
As a global player in the lubrication equipment market, they have a supply chain that encompasses the entire globe. Still in addition to having their corporate headquarters and manufacturing in the southeaster United States, they maintain local District Managers to help support their customers and distributors.
