Town raises francophone flag
On Monday morning, the town hall was filled with those excited for the launch of the Francophone Newfoundland and Labrador flag. Attendees included students from Peacock Primary School and École Boréale, parents, supporters, helpers from Katimavik, and, most notably, Peter Penashue in his first function as a Member of Parliament and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Katimavik’s Valerie Brassard served as announcer, speaking to those in attendance of the ceremony. Town Mayor Leo Abbass, Peter Penashue and Guylaine Joncas all addressed the crowd. School students sang the national anthem and the ode to Labrador, the first musical presentation ever to take place in the chambers at the town hall.
This was the same day that the French flag of Newfoundland and Labrador was raised across the province, in communities such as St. John’s, Corner Brook, L’Anse aux Canard and Labrador City. However, in those communities, the French flag has been raised annually while this is the first time for Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
M.P. Peter Penashue said, “It’s good to see the Francophone community included and to hear kids speaking French. I am very honoured to represent Canada at this time.”

Castillian's flag ship property is the Hope Brook Gold Project located in southwestern Newfoundland, where it is carrying out a 25000 metre diamond drill program. This press release contains "forward-looking information" within the meaning of
The event also included a Strongman display, Army cadets Pipe Band, The Caledonian Kickers line dancers, a rescue demonstration with Newfoundland Dogs and the Scottish Coastal Rowing Queensferry Regatta.
Newfoundland and Labrador Fisheries Minister Clyde Jackman says there's no point in calling for a judicial inquiry into marine search and rescue services. "'I don't know what it would accomplish, to tell you the truth," said Jackman.

After that, they hope to expand to “Newfoundland hotspots” like Fort McMurray. Clever branding or no, both partners want the frames to stand on their own two arms. “If you're sticking a Newfoundland flag or a Newfoundland name on these frames,” says
Seal Shepherd: I Just Saw The Flag of Newfoundland Burning!
The underground is about to become the above-ground and the big money-machine animal rights organizations are going to be pushed out. The day of making millions, "billions" of dollars off the backs of dead or dying animals will soon be over. The future of animal rights is you submitting your brain-storming to us via social networking, and us implementing your ideas. Hands-on, grass-roots, "direct action." There is no need for six to seven figure salaries in animal rights. Stay tuned! We are seeing laziness people! We will abort this campaign and four more that are already written and pull our people out of Newfoundland if more of you don't get on board! We don't want to turn our backs on the seals, but our mission depends on your support of our campaigns. Laziness, apathy doesn't cut it in the business of animal rights. These animals are screaming at you for help! Here is your dog (with collar on) being murdered and eaten in China: Why are we in China? Besides the obvious, Canada is the only country left in the western hemisphere allowing dog and cat fur trade with China. They do so to satisfy the blood-lust of Newfoundland Canadians, and their need to slaughter seals. In banning the seal slaughter, Canada would be openly contradicting themselves, so they take part in this beyond-the-scope-of-words torture-trade of dogs and cats to take place. There has been a fake order placed by the Canadian government for 80,000 seal pelts. We see this with the American stock market when it's in a free-fall (i.e. 2008). There is an emergency organization within the US government put in place to start buying stocks in everything to stop a stock in market free-fall should it occur. The concept works. The Canadian government is (pathetically) trying to imitate the US here. We know as fact that there are warehouses FULL of seal skins packed to the rafters with no buyers for the last five years. We’ve seen them, we know where they are. Living in Canada, The Seal Shepherd, and Animal Liberation Front Canada know how best to deal with the Newfoundland seal slaughter. We ask that you trust us in knowing what will be effective, and what will not. We know Newfoundlanders because we live here. They are in fact a very nice people. It’s their actions that we're out to correct. We do not have a personal vendetta against them. Nor are we looking to create or spread hatred against them.
