Accord Speedway Looks to Get Back on Track Friday Evening

ACCORD, N.Y. -- After suffering from a rain-out last Friday evening and then suffering a another cancellation on Wednesday night for the Midweek Madness program, the Accord Speedway hopes to get back on track on Friday evening, June 24th when the headline sponsor for the evening will be KB'S Racing Photos. Kevin Berryman is the official photographer at the speedway and heads up KB'S Rcing Photos and is offering up some special incentives for the racing fans on Friday evening as the theme for the evening is the American Cancer Society. The six division racing card will be highlighted by the VP Fuels/Rhinebeck Ford Modified division that will pay $2,000.00 to the winner who steers his race car into the Lucas Oil Products winners circle. Berryman has put a lot of time and effort into the upcoming promotion and the great Accord racing fans will have the opportunity to purchase many donated items from race car teams, owners and drivers with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society. The airwaves are always buzzing with excitement as to what one might expect to happen at the "Gem in the Catskills" speedplant and "The Statesman" Jerry Higbie and "Mr Excitement" Kevin Ward will go pink on this special evening at the speedway as both drivers have placed new sheet metal and paint and graphics to their speed buggies for the evening of events. Autographed Sail Panels, Nose Pieces, Doors, T-Shirts and Driver Pics will be featured from many of the speedway drivers as well as Timmie McCreadie as the collection process for the evening will continues to proceed right up until race time.

The one week delay in the racing action will only increase the hype and will allow for a few of the racers that have not yet had their race cars out to the speedway to gain an extra week to button down the equipment for a run at the Accord roses. The time off has also allowed some of the drivers to re-group from a slow start and get back into the thick of things at the speedway. The Palmer Family has been in control of the Accord facility since late 2000 and the 2011 racing season marks the eleventh season of successful promotions since they took over the ownership of the speedway.

All feature events for the Modifieds will offer $2,000.00 to the winner. The Friday night racing will culminate with the running of the King of the Catskills weekend set for September 23rd and 24th.
